 ABOUT THIS KIT - Making glass candles is simplified for kids in this kit. You can make 3 reusable glass candles. These are personalized glass-painted candles that light up to display your art and craft skills.
WHAT IS PROVIDED IN THE KIT? 3 cylindrical shaped glass tumblers, a black 3D outliner tube, 3 water-based glass paints, gel wax, candle wicks and instruction manual are provided in this Toykraft Art and Craft kit. Even after completing the painting on the 3 glass tumblers, there is a lot of paint leftover which can be used for other glass objects in and around the home.
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE CANDLES? The Art and Craft activity can be completed in 3 stages: You need to decide on the design which you would like to paint. This design is made on the curved glass surface using the 3D black outliner. Once dry, the inset areas of the design are filled with the free-flowing glass colours through the bottle nozzles. After the artwork is complete, the glass containers are filled with molten gel wax taking care not to submerge the candle wicks.
WHAT DO YOU LEARN AND ACHIEVE? You learn how to paint designs on a curved glass surface using outliner and glass colours. This will give you the confidence to test your artistic skills on other glass articles. You also learn how to fill the containers with gel wax. By doing so you get hands-on experience on this Art and Craft activity. Not only have you gained proficiency here, but you have also made some very useful candles in your own design.

When a glass candle is painted with pigments especially suitable for this surface, the glowing colours come out best from the transparent surface. In fact glass painting has become a very popular hobby activity.

Instruction manual

Before using the colours, one has to use the 3D outliner tube for outlining the design or motif to be painted. The inset areas in the design can then be painted with the glass-painting colour.

Select a design of your choice – floral, geometric, or any other design motif. Try to figure out how it would look across the entire cylindrical surface area.. After finalizing the theme use the 3D outliner tube for outlining this design. Wait for each section to dry, before rotating the glass for doing another area. When the entire glass surface has been outlined, let it dry for 2-3 hours.

Now you need to check out which colours would be used for the inset areas of the designs. You can combine the basic colours to yield more hues. Paint one surface area with the predetermined colours, before moving on to another surface as has been the practice during outlining. Whilst one glass painted tumbler dries, you can go on to the next.

After all the glass tumblers are ready; you need to fill them with molten candle wax. It is advisable to do this with adult supervision only.

In the interim period tie the top end of the wick lightly to a pencil and rest it horizontally on the rim of the glass. This is to ensure that the wick is in the center and does not get submerged in the wax when it is being poured. Now pour the molten wax into the tumbler. Allow the wax to set and cool. Then carefully open the wick knot around the pencil. The end result is truly beautiful and satisfying.
