Who can buy from Crossword.in?

a) To be able to shop at Crossword.in, you should be above 18 years of age and legally allowed, by the laws governing your land, to shop in India.
b) You need to have a valid credit card or debit card (VISA or MASTERCARD) or American express card.
c) We currently deliver to major cities in India. Type your pincode on the home page to check Pin Codes we deliver to.

I live outside India, can I order for a delivery in India?

Yes, you need to provide an Indian delivery address. To check whether we deliver to the required pin code just type your pincode on the home page. You can provide a billing address as a non Indian address.

Do you have a gift registry facility?

No we currently do not have a registry facility

How do I manage the emails I receive? Or how do I unsubscribe from your mailing list?

a) Based on the choices you have made during various online / offline interactions with us, we would communicate with you periodically for event based communications such as order information, renewal notices, invites, reminders, special offers etc.

What is a coupon? I have received a promotion coupon code how do I use it?

a) We introduce various promotions from time to time. To enable you to take benefit of these promotions, you are provided with relevant promotion coupon codes.
b) In order to take benefit of the discount / promotion, you will need to enter the promotion coupon code in the space provided for it in your billing page, and click the “Apply” button next to it.
c) Your coupon will be applied ONLY after you confirm your order by clicking on the Pay button once you have done the payment.
d) You can also apply multiple Coupons. If you want to apply more Coupons, then while on billing page, enter the new Coupon code and click on the Apply button again.
e) The Coupons are invalidated if such merchandise in the order/ such entire order is cancelled, that mean you will get only the net amount [less of coupon discount] in case of a return, refund or cancellation. F) Some offer cannot be clubbed with other offers i.e. you cannot apply a non combinable coupon with any other offer. The non combinable coupon can be applied only individually to a billing.

Is there any difference between the merchandise sold at Crossword.in and Crossword physical stores?

Crossword.in offers the same quality of merchandise as sold in Crossword physical stores, and the prices may vary on the Crossword.in. However, we are currently not offering the complete range of merchandise available in our store, on our website, though we are continually expanding the range.

What type of merchandise do you sell on-line?

We sell Books related merchandise as of now and will soon introduce many other merchandise to make your online shopping on Crossword.in even more exciting.

Can you arrange for the delivery of a merchandise which is available in your physical store but not available online?

We can only deliver merchandise which is featured on the website and available in stock.

I searched, but I can’t find the merchandise which I saw in one of your stores.

It is possible that you may not find a merchandise you saw in the store, since it could have gone out of stock, or it may not be a part of our online range at present.

Where can I find / search particular merchandise?

You can directly search for the merchandise you are looking for through the search field provided on every page. Alternatively you can navigate through our site map for categories in which you are most likely to find your desired merchandise.

How can I make a payment?

Currently we accept VISA & MASTER Credit Cards and Debit Cards (if your issuing bank has enabled them for online transaction) & American Express Cards, Net Banking with more than 40 Banks.

Do you accept debit cards?

Yes (if your issuer bank permits online transactions)

Do you accept payment through COD, Bank EFT/ ATM deposit or others?

No, currently we do not accept payment through COD/ Cash / Bank Deposit/ Bank EFT/ ATM deposit. We are planning to get in more payment options very soon.

Do you have Cash on Delivery option?

No, not currently, but we do intend to start the COD service very soon.

Can I buy Crossword gift voucher (GV) online?

a) Yes you can buy a physical (paper) gift voucher online, however, it is meant to be redeemed at any of our stores across India and hence not redeemable online. You may check the link Crossword Stores for addresses of Crossword stores.
b) Gift vouchers once ordered cannot be cancelled or returned

Can I redeem Crossword gift voucher for online shopping?

No, you cannot redeem physical (paper) gift vouchers online. You may go to any of our crossword store to redeem the gift voucher.

When would the payment be deducted from my card account? Would I be charged as soon as I complete ordering online?

Yes, an amount equal to your total order value will be blocked against your credit / debit card limit, as soon as you complete the transaction. In the unlikely event that we are unable to ship your full order, You shall not be charged for any items which are not delivered to you, or shall receive a full refund for the amount of such undelivered shippment.

Is Stop-payment allowed in case I realize my card has been misused or a purchase made fraudulently?

You will need to report the incident to your card issuing bank.

What should I do if my credit/debit card has been compromised when I am trying to make a payment online?

a) Please refer our privacy policy, which mentions that we do not collect or receive your credit card information, and this is collected directly on the Bank’s payment gateway.
b) If you believe that your credit card has been compromised, then please immediately report the incident to your card issuing bank.

Can I pay in-store for a merchandise bought online?

Sorry, as of now we do not offer such facility.

Cancellation / Returns / Refund related Queries

What happens if a merchandise I have ordered is out of stock?

a) If the merchandise is “out of stock” when you are trying to add it to your shopping cart, you will be informed immediately and the merchandise won’t get added to the shopping cart. You can add such merchandise to your wish list & press the button” tell me when in stock”, by doing so you will get an email from us when the merchandise is available.
b) However, if the merchandise goes out of stock after it has been added to your shopping cart but before check out is completed, you will be informed at the time of check out. You would then need to remove it from your cart before proceeding to check out.
c) If a merchandise goes out of stock after you have placed your order and received an order-confirmation, then we will put forward our best attempt to fulfill the order by sourcing the selected merchandise. In the event that we are unable to source it for you, or if it is likely to take longer than 9 days to ship, we will inform you about the delay and cancel the merchandise, and reverse any charges made to your credit / debit card against that merchandise.

Is there a limit to the quantity that I can order for?

No. However, in some cases where the order quantities are large, we may verify in order to ensure your security, to confirm that you have indeed ordered for these merchandise.

Can I cancel an order or a merchandise?

a) Yes, you can cancel the order fully or partially before it is shipped. However, you cannot cancel your order for the Book rewards Membership or Gift vouchers, once placed. To check the status of whether your order has been shipped or not, click on the “Track your order” link at the top of the page, and then on the link to the specific order, which will indicate the shipping status of each merchandise in your order.
b) However, additions to an order, or changes to the merchandise ordered, are not possible.

Can I change shipping address of the order?

You can change the shipping address before your order is billed and shipped by calling Customer Care on 1800 3000 1203 / 022 4249 8060 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday. We will do our best to ship to the new address.

What is your return/refund and replacement policy?

We offer a 14 day refund and exchange policy, which is applicable to most merchandise sold on Crossword.in. Please refer our returns policy for more details.

In case I change my mind about the format/ merchandise picked up, can I have it exchanged?

Yes, for most merchandise, you can exchange unused merchandise. Some merchandise are excluded from this for hygiene reasons. For details on which merchandise cannot be exchanged or returned, please refer our returns policy.

I want to return a merchandise, how can I do that?

a) Yes, this is possible, you will need to call our Customer Service Representative and register your request. You would be provided a Return request ticket number, which you will need to use in your future correspondence. You may visit any Crossword store in India, and return the merchandise in unused, saleable condition, along with the original sale invoice, or

We will arrange for the merchandise to be collected from the delivery address through courier, and returned to us. We shall process the return subject to receipt of the merchandise at our location in unused condition in its original packaging along with original tags and invoice, failing which return/ exchange / refund may not be possible. In some cases you will have to courier us the merchandise.

How will I receive my money for the merchandise which I have returned or cancelled?

You will receive your money in the same manner in which you paid at the time of purchase. However, for returns in any Crossword store check the Store returns policy.

You may visit any Crossword store in India, and return the merchandise in unused condition, along with the original sale invoice.
If you return any merchandise purchased on Crossword.in at any Crossword store, you shall be issued a Crossword credit note against receipt of the merchandise, which may be redeemed against any purchases of an equivalent amount from any Crossword store within 6 months.
Please note that the original Crossword credit note must be produced while redeeming against any purchases. We shall not be responsible in the event the original credit note is misplaced or destroyed. We do not issue duplicate credit notes.
The Crossword credit note can only be used to pay for purchases at Crossword stores, and cannot be redeemed against purchases made on Crossword.in.
The issue of the Crossword credit note, to the person returning the merchandise, against the returned merchandise shall be sufficient discharge to Crossword for the return of the merchandise, regardless of whether the payment for the original purchase was made by a credit/ debit card or through any other means.

Can I get warranty/guarantee for the merchandise?

If a merchandise has a manufacturer’s warranty/guarantee associated with it, it would be mentioned along with the other merchandise details.

I am concerned about the security aspects related to typing out my credit card number online.

Please be assured that we do not receive/ store your card details. When you enter the card details you are redirected to the Axis bank (erstwhile UTI Bank) secure payment site. Axis bank exchanges the data provided by you with your card issuing bank through a Secured Socket Layer. Your card issuing bank authorizes or rejects the transaction, based on which we process or reject the order. At no point do we receive / store your card details. Please also refer Secure Shopping

Is the information I enter encrypted?

Yes we encrypt all credit / debit card or payment information using 128 bit encryption programs.

Shipping related Queries

Where do you deliver? Or; do you deliver to my city?

Do you deliver out of India? Do you have plans to deliver out of India?

No we are sorry, but as of now we do not deliver out of India.

Are there any places/ merchandise for which delivery might take longer?

Expected time taken to dispatch the shipment is given against each merchandise on the respective merchandise details page. Typically all Mumbai deliveries are completed within 3-5 days post shipment and outside Mumbai deliveries are completed within 4-5 days post shipment. Once we receive your order we make all attempts to deliver within the committed time, however, it might take longer than expected in some far to reach areas, due to poor logistics connectivity.

What happens if I am out when you deliver?

Our shipping company will leave a message and attempt again. We urge you to plan and coordinate the purchase in a manner that someone is available to accept the shipment at the provided delivery address.

What if only part of my order has arrived?

We always strive to ship your entire order at the earliest. In some cases, however, some merchandise may not be ready to ship immediately, and so we may ship a partial order of the merchandise which are ready to ship. The remaining merchandise shall typically be shipped as soon as they become available, but not later than 9 days from your order. If we are unable to ship the merchandise within 9 days from your order, we will automatically cancel the unshipped merchandise and inform you about the same. What if my order arrives damaged?

If you realize that the package is damaged before accepting the delivery, please do not accept the delivery and immediately inform us. b) If you have accepted the delivery, and then realized that the package is damaged, please feel free to get in touch with us within 14 days of receiving the package. With an exception of a few merchandise we have a 14 days return / exchange policy. For details please refer our returns policy.

Can I place an order for delivery to multiple Addresses?

No, currently you will have to place multiple orders for multiple addresses.

I want to change my delivery / shipping address for an order, How can I change it?

Yes, you can change your delivery / shipping address, only till such time that we have not billed and shipped your order. You would have to call customer care on 1800 3000 1203 / 022 4249 8060 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday and request for an address change.

Can you hold my order for few days? (Because I am going out of station.)

Please call us at Customer Care to advise us about such exceptions, and we shall try our best to accommodate your instructions. However, we cannot hold orders for shipment beyond 9 days from the date of the order.

What are your shipping charges? Or; Are there any additional charges for delivery?

We charge for shipping unless otherwise specified. Our shipping charges vary based on factors such as number of merchandise ordered, type of merchandise ordered and delivery destination. For more details please refer our shipping policy. Please note we do not charge additionally for any octroi amount levied on the delivery, and so please do not make any payment to the person delivering your order.

Does your merchandise price include shipping charges?

a) Our prices do not include shipping charges and tax on shipping charges. However, they include merchandise cost and any governmental levies on the merchandise cost e.g. VAT.

How do I Track my Order?

I have placed an order 1 week back, when will I get it? Or, what is the estimated delivery time for an Order?

All orders usually ship within 3-5 working days after you place the order. However, sometimes orders get delayed due to stock unavailability. For your specific order, click here to check the “Track your Order”.

Can you arrange delivery for my order late in the evening?

Who will pay charges for the return shipment?

If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, and wish to return the merchandise as per our Returns Policy through courier pickup arranged by us, you do not have to pay any courier charges for the return shipment.

What should I do if the merchandise I ordered has reached me in a damaged/defective condition?

What should I do if I get something else instead of what I had ordered? Or; I have not ordered what you have sent me.

We take great care to deliver exactly what you ordered. However, sometimes orders may get mixed up. Please contact us within 24 hours of receiving the delivery in case you have been delivered anything other than what you had ordered.

I live in India, but I am getting a message that you do not deliver to my PINCODE, how can I order?

a) You can report this incident by contacting us on 1800 3000 1203 / 022 4249 8060 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday and speak with our customer care representative or write to us at estore@Crossword.in or provide your comments with full details of your address and PINCODE on feedback page. We will revert to you within 3 working days.

b) Also, please check the PINCODE you have entered. The pin code should be numeric & not have any spaces.

How can I track my order which is in-transit?

You can track your order status online in the My account section.

Is gift-wrapping offered as a service? Is it charged?

You have the option to indicate in the shopping bag, by clicking the ‘gift wrap’ box, if you would like any merchandise to be gift wrapped. We do not charge additionally for gift wrapping. However, please note the gift wrapped merchandise will be packaged inside our regular packaging to ensure that it is not tampered with, or damaged in transit. You can also type the gift message in the space provided in the billing page.

Can I have my order delivered to a Crossword store, so that I can pick it up from there? Would delivery be free then?

Sorry, currently we do not offer such facility.

Is registration compulsory? Or Do I need to register to be able to shop at Crossword.in

a) No, you need not register to shop at Crossword.in. However, if you register you could avail of the benefits of better service, quicker checkout and a host of special privileges.

No, account registration on Crossword.in is absolutely free. Yes, If you enroll to our BRP program we charge you Rs200/-[Rupees one hundred and seventy five] (inclusive of taxes).

Under what circumstances can my registration expire?

Usually registrations do not expire. However, if your account is in-active for a fairly long period we may suspend it or de-activate it, in which case, you can contact our Customer care representative on 1800 3000 1203 / 022 4249 8060 9:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Fridayto activate the account. They will reactivate your account after verification of some details to confirm your identity.

What if I have forgotten my Password?

Can I edit my personal details

Yes; most of your personal detail is editable. It can be done in the My account section under “UpdateProfile” page. b) However, you will not be able to modify your email id.
