The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, belived in non-violent means to achieve his aim of gaining independence for India. Our new nation embraced democracy, freedom for all, and started living in peace and harmony with other countries. However, in this imperfect world we had to be prepared to defend ourselves and our hard - won freedom from our enemies.
