Madhurima Vidyarthi is an endocrinologist who always wanted to be a writer. She trained in London for many years and then returned to live and work in Calcutta.
My Grandmother's Masterpiece is her first book, but she is planning to write many more.
When she is not writing-books or prescriptions-Madhurima likes to travel, eat good food and delve into history. She lives in an untidy house full of unruly members and desperately wants a dog.

Tanvi Bhat (Illustrator)
Tanvi Bhat is a children's book illustrator and author who has created books for publishers like Pratham Books, Duckbill and Tulika Books, to name a few. She likes working with watercolours and gouache when making pictures, and scribbling on scraps of paper that she's constantly losing when she writes.
'This is the story of how my grandmother became a famous artist. It happened somewhere between my seventh and eighth birthdays, so she was really old and also a grandmother, and I didn't know she was an artist. And, of course, she was not famous. And then she was both, all at once.'
For Nini, Minima is just her normal everyday grandmother. So when Minima suddenly shows an interest in doing something new, Nini is not sure that she likes it. After all, a grandmother's first job is being a grandmother, isn't it?

The bond between Nini and her Minima has been portrayed so well. The book drives home the message beautifully that there is no age limit for learning and grandparents, for that matter everyone, have a life of their own.I love how even subtle stereotypes are smashed in this beautiful story - the mother is shown having a career, a daughter-in-law is shown supporting her mother-in-law's secret desire and even encouraging it in many aspects and so many more.
