Product Description

Assemble the ingredients of our solar system as it forms over billions of years - from the very first supernova to today!

For
space lovers of all ages, get to know our solar system in a fun and memorable way! It's an 'astronomy cook book' with ingredients that include stardust and solar winds! Professor Raman Prinja, a true expert when it comes to cosmic ingredients, breaks down the steps that formed our little corner of the Universe.

In
Recipe for a Solar System, readers experience the coming together of the remnants of the Big Bang. Through this recipe process, we can see the amazing connects between us - humanity - and, for example, the frozen seas on distant planets. And we can appreciate the relationship between the wonky tilt of Uranus and the craters we know so well on the surface of our Moon. Here's a hint: they were all caused by powerful impacts with stray cosmic bodies in the early days of the Solar System.

About Author

Multi-award-winning author, Professor Raman Prinja, is Head of Department for Astronomy at University College London. He is dedicated to the belief that it is hugely important to promote awareness of astronomy and physics to as wide an audience as possible, and especially to motivate and inspire the next generation of Universe explorers. As part of Professor Prinja's outreach, he has written several books on astronomy to share the excitement of the Universe with laypersons, parents, teachers and, above all, young people. Kristina Kister is an illustrator and character designer from Essen, Germany. After graduating in Communication Design she worked as a junior art director in an ad agency in Düsseldorf, where she illustrated for clients like Weight Watchers, Fashion Designer Thomas Rath, DHL and many more. Today she is a freelance illustrator illustrating pen&paper books, children's books, developing character and concepts for German TV shows and all kinds of projects that involve illustration work. Having a background as a graphic designer, her style is known for geometric shapes, unusual colour palettes and clear outlines. Working mostly digitally, she experiments with watercolour and pencil textures to give it an analogue feel.
