Product Description
Donn Doongaji spent his entire working life with the Tata Group. In the book he traces the origins of the Tata philosophy and culture to the three tenets of Zoroastrianism, ‘good thoughts; good words; good deeds’. Drawing on his experience in Tata, he believes “management is a spiritual pursuit” as karma or management without dharma or righteousness cannot build lasting institutions. “Governance is the expression of the spiritual power that lies embedded in values.” He writes about his professional journey in Tata of over four decades, the lessons he learned from legendry leaders like JRD Tata, Sumant Moolgaokar, Nani Palkhivala and Russi Mody and how unwaveringly following ‘The Tata Way’ helped him to achieve the turnaround of operations in companies he led, narrated in the book. Observing from close such distinguished leaders, he says, “Leadership truly arrives in an organisation when everyone in it can read the unwritten and hear the unspoken word.” Laced with interesting anecdotes, Donn Doongaji concludes that,in the end, only people matter, as truly living by their values, people alone build organizations.
