About Author

Joe Bindloss has been writing travel books for more than a decade, roaming across India, Nepal, Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe and Australasia. As well as writing guidebooks for Lonely Planet, Time Out and other publishers, Joe writes for numerous newspapers, magazines and websites, including the Guardian, the Independent, Wanderlust and Real Travel. Joe was born in Cyprus but grew up in rural East Anglia. He studied science and journalism in Brighton and London. Since then, Joe has lived all over the place, including in Chicago, Manila and Melbourne. He is currently based in Northeast London with his partner, press photographer Linda Nylind. I am a writer and photographer based in Lisbon, Portugal. My images have been published in magazines, newspapers, books and websites including the BBC, Bon Appétit, CNN Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, Culinary Backstreets, Dill, Eater, Lonely Planet, Los Angeles Times, Lucky Peach, National Geographic, the New York Times, Olive, PUNCH, Saveur, Time, TASTE, Travel + Leisure, VICE, The Wall Street Journal Asia and the Washington Post. After receiving a scholarship to study journalism, Mark worked as a reporter in England for 13 years. In 2004 Mark moved to Thailand, where he began a new career in teaching.
