In Nancy Drew 54: The Strange Message In The Parchment, Nancy visits a friend’s sheep farm to help in solving a mysterious puzzle involving a parchment.
Nancy receives an invitation from Junie Flockhart to come visit her family’s sheep farm. She wants Nancy’s help in solving a mystery. Nancy sets off to the farm. There, she is shown the parchment that has a series of paintings on it.
The paintings are of a man, a woman, a baby and a boat accident. Just after purchasing the parchment, the sheep farmer, Junie’s father, received a strange telephone message saying that if he solves the message hidden in the paintings, he could right an old wrong.
The parchment is stolen but Nancy calls up Ned and he tracks down the painter. This painter decides to come down to the farm to talk about her painting, to help unravel the mystery. However, things are complicated by a hostile neighbour who is also a farmer, a boy whom the neighbour claims is his nephew and some strangers who try to stop Nancy from deciphering the hidden message in the parchment.
