She Was Honoured With Prestigious Awards Like The 'Sahitya Akademi,' 'Bharatiya Jnanpith,' And 'Padma Vibhushan' Among Many Others. One Of Her Most Famous Novels Titled 'Pinjar' Was Made Into A Movie Of The Same Name. She Also Penned An Autobiography, In Which She Expressed Her Audacity By Writing About Her Personal Life, Which Might Be Considered 'Controversial' By Many, Even In Contemporary India. Amrita Pritam Is Most Remembered For Her Poem, 'Ajj Aakhaan Waris Shah Nu.' अमृता प्रीतम पंजाबी के सबसे लोकप्रिय लेखकों में से एक थीं। उन्हें पंजाबी भाषा की पहली कवयित्री माना जाता है। उन्होंने कुल मिलाकर लगभग 100 पुस्तकें लिखी हैं, जिनमें उनकी चर्चित आत्मकथा ‘रसीदी टिकट’ भी शामिल है। उन्हें भारत का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा सम्मान पद्मविभूषण प्रदान किया गया था। साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाली वे पहली महिला लेखिका थीं। भारत के सर्वोच्च साहित्यिक पुरस्कार, ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार से भी वे सम्मानित की गई थीं। उन्हें अपनी पंजाबी कविता ‘अज्ज आखाँ वारिस शाह नूँ’ के लिए बहुत प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त हुई। इस कविता में भारत विभाजन के समय पंजाब में हुई भयानक घटनाओं का अत्यंत दुखद वर्णन है और यह भारत और पाकिस्तान दोनों देशों में सराही गई।.
