Book Summary
A non-fiction wildlife book that invites readers into the tiger’s world in the Indian jungle. Built on decades of close field observation, it reveals how these charismatic predators raise their young, master hunting, and navigate courtship and territory. Suitable for nature lovers, students, and curious readers of all ages, the tone is respectful, educational, and quietly awe-inspiring.
Through intimately observed portraits drawn from Ranthambore, the book blends story-led insight with careful analysis. Readers meet individual tigers—Padmini, the devoted mother; Genghis, the master hunter; Noon, the amorous tigress; and Broken Tooth, the rival suitor—whose moments illuminate how the wild life unfolds. It explains, in clear terms, how cubs learn to hunt, how mating and courtship unfold, and how families and territories are formed and maintained, all anchored in fifty years of field study. The result is a vivid, evidence-based view of a species that continues to fascinate and mystify in equal measure.
Readers gain a deeper understanding of tiger behavior, a greater appreciation for wildlife, and a clearer sense of conservation context after finishing. It builds curiosity about the natural world, confidence in recognizing signs of animal life in the field, and a lasting sense of wonder for India's wild heart.
