I cannot express how much I loved this book. The pacing is perfect, the mystery is intricate, and the emotional stakes felt very real. I was deeply invested in Pip's journey from the very first chapter. Holly Jackson writes with such confidence and clarity. The ending was deeply satisfying and also heartbreaking at the same time. I have already started the second book. Crossword had it in stock and the delivery was quick. Five stars!

I am not typically a mystery reader but this book was recommended by a colleague and I am so glad I picked it up. The plot is incredibly well-constructed with no loose ends and the characters feel fully fleshed out. The dual timeline of past events and Pip's present investigation creates brilliant tension. I could not figure out who the real culprit was until the very end. A truly exceptional read that I will treasure.

I started reading this on a Friday night and could not stop until I had finished it at 3am. Holly Jackson's debut is a masterclass in young adult crime fiction. Pip is such a relatable and determined protagonist. The way the investigation unfolds with podcasts and interview transcripts made it feel so real and modern. I was completely blindsided by the ending. This is easily one of the best thrillers I have read in years. Highly recommended.
