This is the kind of biography that stays with you. Arundhati Roy writes with genuine insight and doesn't sanitise the subject โ the struggles and failures are as present as the achievements. The result is a portrait that feels completely real and ultimately deeply moving. I couldn't put it down.
I finished Mother Mary Comes to Me feeling inspired in a way that felt earned rather than manufactured. Arundhati Roy balances admiration with honesty, and the narrative is compelling from the very first page. Whether you knew a lot about the subject or very little, you will feel something real by the end. Wonderful.
What moved me most was how human this makes someone who could easily have been made mythic. Arundhati Roy is interested in the person, not the legend, and that choice makes everything in the book feel true and important. I came away humbled and genuinely motivated. A remarkable book.
What I appreciate most about ordering from Crossword is that the books always arrive exactly as you'd hope and usually faster than expected. This one showed up ahead of schedule in immaculate condition. Between the delivery quality and the book itself, I genuinely could not be happier with this purchase. Crossword has earned a loyal customer.
Outstanding. Arundhati Roy has written something that goes far beyond a simple biography โ it's a meditation on purpose, on courage, on what a life fully lived actually looks like. The writing is beautiful and the story is unforgettable. I will be thinking about this for a very long time.
