POPEYE FACES NEW RIVALS AND STRANGE ADVENTURES, WHERE STRENGTH, WIT, AND SPINACH DECIDE THE OUTCOME.
Bluto, at times known as Brutus, is the main antagonist of the Popeye franchise. A nasty giant-sized, bearded, muscular ruffian who loves to pester Popeye. He also constantly tries to win the heart of his sweetheart, Olive Oyl. Bluto usually uses brute force or trickery to accomplish his goals. His voice is very loud, with an incomprehensible bear-like growl between words and sentences. He is always depicted as an extremely strong person, at times possessing the strength of a superhuman. However, after he usually beats up Popeye, Popeye finds a can of spinach, eats it, gets stronger, and beats Bluto into unconsciousness.
