Holly Jackson demonstrates here that her talent extends well beyond her breakthrough series. The Reappearance of Rachel Price has a fresh, inventive structure and a mystery that is genuinely difficult to crack. The character work is excellent. Bel is one of my favourite Jackson protagonists, deeply human and interestingly flawed. The plot builds with perfect pacing and the final act is explosive and satisfying. This is premium thriller writing. Highly recommended to anyone who loves the genre.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price is Holly Jackson at her most mature and ambitious. The thriller setup, a cold case documentary, a missing mother who returns, and a daughter hiding something, creates incredible tension from the very first chapter. Jackson writes Bel with great depth and the mystery unfolds with her characteristic precision. The ending was completely unexpected and entirely satisfying. A brilliant, twisty thriller from one of the best in the genre today. Cannot recommend it enough.
I was so excited for this standalone from Holly Jackson and it completely delivered. The documentary format woven into the narrative is a clever device that Jackson uses with real skill. The central mystery kept me guessing throughout and I was wrong about almost everything until the revelations came. Bel is a fascinating and complicated protagonist. This is a book that rewards close attention. A superb thriller that confirms Jackson as a major talent. Absolutely loved it.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price uses its podcast-documentary structure brilliantly, creating a sense of unfolding discovery that kept me glued to every page. The mother-daughter dynamic is written with real emotional intelligence and the thriller elements are as sharp as anything Jackson has written. I finished this in a day and immediately wanted to discuss it with someone. The ending is genuinely brilliant. A must-read for any fan of clever, literary-grade crime fiction.
I started The Reappearance of Rachel Price on a Friday evening and finished it before midnight. Jackson writes with such propulsive energy. The cold case documentary angle gives the story a contemporary feel while the mystery itself is classically well-constructed. I loved the gradual revelation of Bel's secrets alongside the investigation of her mother's disappearance. The two threads come together brilliantly. Another outstanding achievement from Holly Jackson. Essential reading for thriller fans.
