Before We Forget Kindness (Coffee Series Bk 5)

Genuinely one of the best books I've read this year. Toshikazu Kawaguchi writes with clarity and intelligence and the ideas in Before We Forget Kindness are both original and immediately relevant. I came away from it thinking differently about something I thought I understood. That doesn't happen often. Highly recommended.

Outstanding in every respect. Before We Forget Kindness shows Toshikazu Kawaguchi at their very best — clear thinking, elegant writing, ideas that linger. I don't give five stars lightly but this absolutely earned them.

I picked this up on a recommendation and I'm so glad I did. Toshikazu Kawaguchi has produced something special here — enjoyable to read while also being genuinely substantive. The kind of book you want to press into people's hands. Five stars without any hesitation at all.

This is exactly what a good book should do — entertain you, challenge you, and leave you feeling like the time was genuinely well spent. Toshikazu Kawaguchi delivers on all three counts. I've already recommended it to everyone in my office. A wonderful purchase.

This is the 5th book in the series of the 'Before the coffee gets cold'. The book can be read as a standalone. There are 4 layered stories which are set in the small, time-travelling, magical, mysterious Café Funiculi Funicula in Tokyo. The stories are of : the son, the nameless child, the father, & the valentine. It's the most emotional book in the series. Each story is about kindness. The author has provided the relationship map of characters (before the content page - which is very good, as one can refer to the characters while reading the story). There are café regulars, owners and staff and first-time visitors who come to the café. In this cafe, one can find the same rules as in Book 1.
