When Dav Pilkey Was A Kid, He Was Diagnosed With Adhd And Dyslexia. Dav Was So Disruptive In Class That His Teachers Made Him Sit Out In The Hallway Every Day. Luckily, Dav Loved To Draw And Make Up Stories. He Spent His Time In The Hallway Creating His Own Original Comic Books -- The Very First Adventures Of Dog Man And Captain Underpants. In The Second Grade, Dav'S Teacher Ripped Up His Comics And Told Him He Couldn'T Spend The Rest Of His Life Making Silly Books. Fortunately, Dav Was Not A Very Good Listener. He Spent His Time In The Hallway Creating His Own Original Comic Books - The Very First Adventures Of Dog Man And Captain Underpants. In College, Dav Met A Teacher Who Encouraged Him To Illustrate And Write. He Won A National Competition In 1986 And The Prize Was The Publication Of His First Book, World War Won. I bought this as a gift for my nephew and ended up reading it before giving it to him. Completely worth it. The humour, the heart, the adventure โ it has everything. Dav Pilkey clearly understands what makes a story not just entertaining but genuinely memorable. My nephew loved it too, for the record.
This is the kind of story that reminds you why you fell in love with reading in the first place. Dav Pilkey's writing is vivid and effortless โ the world feels completely lived-in, the stakes feel real, and every chapter ends with you desperately needing to know what happens next. A genuine five-star experience.
What strikes me most about Dog Man #06: Brawl of the Wild is how it balances the big epic elements with the small human moments. Dav Pilkey never loses sight of the characters even when the plot is moving at full speed. The result is a book that is both thrilling and emotionally satisfying. One of my favourite reads in recent memory.
I had been eyeing this one for a while and finally picked it up โ honestly, it was worth every bit of the wait. The world-building is extraordinary. From the very first chapter I was completely transported, and by the end I had lost track of time entirely. Dav Pilkey has created something genuinely magical here. If you love fantasy, just get it.
There are books you enjoy and then there are books that actually stay with you. Dog Man #06: Brawl of the Wild is the second kind. The characters feel real, the pacing never lets up, and the emotional depth surprised me in the best way. I finished it in two sittings and immediately wanted to start again. Absolutely brilliant.
