I gripped the banister and gasped in silence as Uncle Jekyll staggered into the house. His white hair shot out wildly from his head as if it had been shocked with electricity. His pale eyes bulged. His face was smeared with dirt. I wanted to disappear. I didn't want him to see me. I didn't want him to explain where he had been or what he had done.
