Product Description

Head Held High is the memoir of Vishwas Nangre Patil, an Indian Police Service officer who rose from a humble background to lead critical counterterrorism operations in Mumbai. A compelling nonfiction biography, it speaks to aspiring civil servants, security professionals, and readers who value grit, discipline, and service. The tone is inspiring, steadfast, and quietly courageous, inviting readers to witness a life spent protecting others.

Written in a warm, candid voice, Head Held High traces Nangre Patil’s path—from late-night UPSC grind to the IPS cadre—and into the heart of an extraordinary moment in modern Indian history. The book threads childhood memories with years of study, training, and leadership, culminating in the 2008 Mumbai attacks where his resolve helped secure the Taj Mahal Palace and save lives. The narrative blends personal reflection with practical insight, offering readers a window into decision-making under pressure, teamwork, and the art of steady, ethical leadership. Translated from the Marathi original Mann Mein Hai Vishwas, this book preserves the authenticity and cadence of the author’s voice.

What makes Head Held High especially engaging is its balance of human warmth and hard reality. It moves gracefully between intimate recollections—Diwali memories that awaken to the thunder of 26/11—and the meticulous discipline required to prepare for and execute high-stakes operations. The storytelling draws you into precincts and planning rooms, then outward to the city’s streets, letting you feel the weight of each decision and the relief of each hard-won success. The result is a book that is as informative as it is moving, offering both context for India’s security landscape and a human story of perseverance.

  • Personal journey from humble beginnings to the Indian Police Service
  • Firsthand account of counterterrorism operations during the 2008 Mumbai attacks
  • Leadership, discipline, resilience, and public service as core themes
  • Vivid, cinematic storytelling with reflections on duty and courage
  • Original Marathi voice preserved in translation (Mann Mein Hai Vishwas)

After finishing Head Held High, readers gain a deeper understanding of resilience, duty, and the human face of crisis leadership. This memoir leaves you inspired to pursue excellence, value integrity, and consider how one determined individual can impact the safety and spirit of a city—and a nation.
