This Story Is About An Aboriginal Soldier In The Second World War Who Travels From Katherine In The Northern Territory To Enlist In The Australian Army. He Becomes A Decorated Soldier And Subsequently Fights Against The Japanese In 1942 When They Invaded North Australia. On One Of His Exploits He And The Other Five Members Of His Patrol Capture A Truck Full Of Gold Ingots Stolen By The Japanese From The Queensland Bank In Cairns Which The Japanese Had Looted. The Members Of The Patrol Hide The Gold In A Secure Place In The Tropical Jungle Of North Queensland. On Leave From The Army He Meets Julie And They Fall In Love. When The War Ends He Is The Sole Survivor Of The Original Patrol And Sets Out To Retrieve The Gold.
