Oscar Fingall O'Flahertie Wills Wilde Was Born In Dublin In 1854. He Was Educated At Trinity College, Dublin And Magdalen College, Oxford Where, A Disciple Of Pater, He Founded An Aesthetic Cult. In 1884 He Married Constance Lloyd, And His Two Sons Were Born In 1885 And 1886. His Novel, The Picture Of Dorian Gray (1891), And Social Comedies Lady Windermere'S Fan (1892), A Woman Of No Importance (1893), An Ideal Husband (1895), And The Importance Of Being Earnest (1895), Established His Reputation. In 1895, Following His Libel Action Against The Marquess Of Queesberry, Wilde Was Sentenced To Two Years' Imprisonment For Homosexual Conduct, As A Result Of Which He Wrote The Ballad Of Reading Gaol (1898), And His Confessional Letter De Profundis (1905). On His Release From Prison In 1897 He Lived In Obscurity In Europe, And Died In Paris In 1900.
Few books manage to be both intellectually stimulating and genuinely enjoyable to read. Only Dull People Are Brilliant at Breakfast is one of them. Oscar Wilde's command of the subject is evident throughout and the presentation is superb. Highly, highly recommended.
Outstanding in every respect. Only Dull People Are Brilliant at Breakfast shows Oscar Wilde at their very best — clear thinking, elegant writing, ideas that linger. I don't give five stars lightly but this absolutely earned them.
This is exactly what a good book should do — entertain you, challenge you, and leave you feeling like the time was genuinely well spent. Oscar Wilde delivers on all three counts. I've already recommended it to everyone in my office. A wonderful purchase.
I picked this up on a recommendation and I'm so glad I did. Oscar Wilde has produced something special here — enjoyable to read while also being genuinely substantive. The kind of book you want to press into people's hands. Five stars without any hesitation at all.
Genuinely one of the best books I've read this year. Oscar Wilde writes with clarity and intelligence and the ideas in Only Dull People Are Brilliant at Breakfast are both original and immediately relevant. I came away from it thinking differently about something I thought I understood. That doesn't happen often. Highly recommended.
