The strip revolves around the relationship between the two as Calvin goes out of his way to create trouble while Hobbes tries to steer him out of it. About Author

Bill Watterson is a cartoonist who used to work at an advertising firm when he started Calvin and Hobbes as a hobby. The strip got rejected several times and was finally published for the first time on 18th November, 1985 by Universal Press Syndicate. He decided to end the famous Calvin and Hobbes strip at the height of its popularity in 1996, citing that he had done all that he could through the medium. Watterson was awarded the National Cartoonists Society's Humor Comic Strip Award in 1988 and the society's Reuben Award in 1986 and 1988. He was the youngest to receive the Reuben Award.
